The Top Shelf
Board Bank
Serving on a charter school board offers a unique opportunity for civic engagement and allows community members to contribute to education reform. Through their service, charter school board members directly contribute to improvement of the public school system. Individuals interested in joining LAPCS’ Board Bank should take the following steps:
- Determine if you have the capacity (time, expertise, interest) in serving on a charter school board.
- Complete the Charter Board Interest Form.
- Conduct research on charter schools in your region. Determining the right fit is important and requires due diligence.
- Complete LAPCS governance training.
In order to join the Board Bank, candidates must commit to participating in Top Shelf governance training, such as LAPCS’ Charter Board Leadership Academy. Once certified, LAPCS will serve as a liaison, introducing prospective candidates to board contacts at our partner schools. LAPCS does not guarantee placement on any charter board or committee. Final decisions will be made at the discretion of the governing boards of each school or network.
