Policy & Advocacy

LAPCS advocates for charter schools by serving on committees on behalf of charters like the Minimum Foundation Program Task Force, Accountability Commission, Advisory Council on Student Behavior and Discipline, School Governance Working Group, EnrollNOLA Advisory Committee, NOLA Public Schools Facilities Advisory Committee, and Resilient Louisiana Commission, K-12 subgroup task force.
We work with the federal, state, and local government to support and increase the work of charter schools across the state.
We work with community partners such as Ed Navigator, Urban League of Louisiana, New Orleans Mayor’s Office, and local education advocacy organizations to support charter schools through policy creation and implementation as well as increasing resources that support charter school success.
- Building an accurate narrative around charter schools with city, state, and local leadership.
- Fight for charters at the capital during session, advocating successfully for:
- Teacher pay raises
- Increasing the MFP
- Defeating TRSL charter school mandates
- Reasonable amendments to applicable charter school laws
