Former Adams and Reese Attorney Joins LAPCS as Governance Director

The Louisiana Association of Public Charter Schools (LAPCS) has hired Neil Ranu, formerly an attorney with Adams and Reese LLP, as its new Governance Director. In this position, Ranu will ensure that LAPCS continues to serve as the go-to resource on governance issues for the Louisiana charter school community through the The Top Shelf, a signature program at LAPCS developed to enhance the capacity of charter school boards.

“We’re thrilled to bring someone of Neil’s caliber onto the LAPCS team,” said Caroline Roemer, executive director of the organization. “Supporting charter school boards and ensuring good governance is one of the most important pieces of work that we do as a charter school association. Neil’s legal background, along with his work with both corporate and nonprofit organizations, will help us take this work to the next level.”

Ranu brings to his new position a wealth of experience in legal services, nonprofit corporate governance, and conflict resolution. Prior to joining LAPCS, he served as a transactional law attorney at Adams and Reese in New Orleans and a corporate and securities associate in the Sacramento office of DLA Piper LLP. He has also provided pro-bono legal services to various nonprofit organizations.

Ranu moved to New Orleans in 2010 to attend the Creative Writing Workshop at the University of New Orleans. He received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of California at Berkeley.
