Board Member Focus: Paula L. Jordan, JS Clark Leadership Academy

Why did you choose to serve on your school’s board? I chose to serve on my school’s board because I wanted to be a part of a positive choice in education for my child and all the middle school children in my city. The founder of the school had a vision to provide the students with an interactive, project-based learning environment. It was something different and something I believed would work.

How did you become involved with your school? I joined the board before the school started. I was involved in the meetings and interviews for school approval. Once the school was opened, I have volunteered in several different areas. I have also assisted with identifying small grants, corporate sponsorship of events/activities and planning special “parents night out” events. I support and attend all programs and most athletic events.

What leadership roles have you held while serving on the board? I have served as Board Secretary and I am currently the Board President.

How can people help your school if they are interested? People who want to help our school and can:

  1. Sponsor fundraisers, special school events and the athletic department

  2. Become a volunteer or tutor
