Why did you choose to serve on your school’s board? I chose to do this to help a community save the local school. I chose to apply because parents asked me to.
How did you become involved with your school? Twenty years ago, my daughters went to Downsville School when it was a traditional public school. They had no PTO or room mothers. Coming from another parish that I was active in, it was a total shock….Now I am raising my granddaughter and she attends Downsville Charter School. I received a call from a parent asking me to come to a meeting about wrongdoings concerning our school board at that time.
What leadership roles have you had while serving on the board? Besides sitting on the board I hold no office. We just became a board in October 2015.
How can people help your school if they are interested? Volunteer… donate… help with our fundraisers.
