Why did you choose to serve on your school’s board? Bricolage Academy represents in my view the next evolution of charter schools in New Orleans. With an emphasis on intentional diversity and STEM education at a young age, we are truly unique in the education environment in New Orleans. We are focused on teaching our children innovation and creativity that will prepare our students for jobs and professions that don’t exist today. The uniqueness and innovation of this school was what drew me to serve on the school’s board.
How did you become involved with your school? I became involved with Bricolage when I had coffee several years back with the school leader, Josh Densen. This meeting was before the school was started and it was to discuss the idea Josh had for a new and different school. At the time, I was serving on another charter school board and Josh wanted to “pick my brain” on this dream. After learning more about his vision and what the school would be, I was quickly hooked on the idea. I then became a founding board member and have continued on the board to the present.
What leadership roles have you had while serving on the board? I am a founding board member of the school and have served as treasurer and chair of the finance committee from the beginning to present.
How can people help your school if they are interested? If people are interested in helping the school directly they should reach out to Josh Densen, our School Leader.
