How did you become involved with this charter school? Upon returning to New Orleans, I was seeking an opportunity that would allow me to make a meaningful impact in the city. I was contacted by several school boards and, after much research, I concluded The NET Charter High School was a good match for my skill set.
Why did you agree to serve? It is my desire to be a part of a high performing team and I could not help but say yes after meeting the board president and the principal of the school. They’ve laid a solid foundation and I want to assist in advancing the mission.
What was compelling about the opportunity? I believe public education is a civil right and want to invest my time serving kids who are often left behind.
What leadership roles have you held while serving on the board? I initially planned to focus on advocacy; however, we had a greater need for fundraising. I’m the fundraising chair and it has been a mutually beneficial experience.
