8th Annual Louisiana Charter School Conference, “20/20 Vision: Celebrating 20 Years, Preparing

BATON ROUGE, La. — The Louisiana Association of Public Charter Schools (LAPCS) will hold its 8th Annual Conference, “20/20 Vision: Celebrating 20 Years, Preparing for 20 More,” on Tuesday, October 13 at the Baton Rouge Crowne Plaza, 4728 Constitution Avenue. The day-long event will bring together the state’s charter school community to focus on the growth and success of charter schools in Louisiana over the past 20 years, while looking ahead to the future of the charter movement and public education as a whole.

This year’s conference will feature keynote speaker Norman Atkins, co-founder and CEO of Relay Graduate School of Education, and power breakfast speaker Kai Kight, an inspirational speaker and violinist. The event will also feature sessions dedicated to charter school governance, teaching and learning, special education, finance & operations, and legal challenges and updates.

“The charter school movement in Louisiana has come such a long way since its beginnings 20 years ago, when we started with just three schools,” said Caroline Roemer, executive director of LAPCS. “Now with more than 140 schools statewide, we have a strong network of families, educators, and community leaders advocating for charters and the choice they provide. As we look forward to the next 20 years, we have more work to do to ensure that our schools are high quality, and that we have even more supporters rallying for educational excellence in our state.”

Educators, parents, current and prospective charter board members, and community leaders are invited to register for the event at www.lapcsconference.org; LAPCS is also offering opportunities for sponsors and exhibitors. For more information, visit the conference website or email info@lacharterschools.org.
