Celebrating Charter School Week 2023 with École Saint-Landry

At LAPCS, we are passionate about promoting innovative and culturally rich educational opportunities for students. This National Charter School Week and Teacher Apprecation Week, we are thrilled to highlight École Saint-Landry, an exceptional charter school that embodies the values of bilingual education and cultural preservation.

École Saint-Landry is a tuition-free, public French immersion charter school located in Saint Landry Parish, Louisiana. The school first opened its doors in the 2021-2022 academic year with Kindergarten and 1st-grade classes, growing one-grade level each year.

The mission of École Saint-Landry is to prepare students from the Acadiana region to be academically proficient, bilingual, and globally competent. The school aims to close the gaps in academic achievement and support the local community’s efforts to preserve and revitalize at-risk cultural assets by offering an innovative, research-based French immersion education to students.

What sets École Saint-Landry apart is its diverse teaching staff, hailing from France, Senegal, and Louisiana. Every subject is taught in French, except for English Language Arts, providing students with a truly immersive experience. The school’s administrators, Louisiana natives fluent in the French language, are dedicated to preserving the region’s rich Cajun and Creole heritage.

During National Charter School Week and Teacher Appreciation Week, we want to recognize the incredible work of the educators at École Saint-Landry. Their commitment to fostering academic excellence, bilingualism, and global competency in their students is truly inspiring.
