Board Member Focus: Joanne Rinardo, Cypress Academy

Why did you choose to serve on your school’s board?
Having a background in Special Education, I was excited to be a part of a school that incorporates those specialized services into its curriculum. I also was impressed with the Board and the staff’s professional expertise as well as their level of commitment to the school. Every decision that is made by the staff and the Board is geared towards the common goal of providing the best educational experience for each student. The dedication of the staff and the Head of School, Dr. Bob Berk, never ceases to amaze me.

How did you become involved with your school?
I was approached by another board member after serving together for years on another board. His enthusiasm was contagious!

What leadership roles have you had while serving on the board?
I am somewhat new to the Board but am serving as the Treasurer and chair the Human Resources Committee.

How can people help your school if they are interested?
Cypress Academy encourages visitors so that they can spread the work about the great work that the staff is doing with the children. Volunteers for fund raising are always welcome! Please call Bob Berk, Head of School, for information about how you can help.
