The Louisiana Association of Public Charter Schools (LAPCS) is reminding New Orleans parents and schools that the deadline to submit a timely “OneApp” is this Friday, March 15th.

"Determining where your child goes to school is one of the most important decisions a parent can make," said LAPCS Executive Director Caroline Roemer Shirley. "But parents have to be sure to submit the application by this Friday to give their child the best chance to get accepted to their school of choice."

To help make the decision making process as user-friendly and well-informed as possible, the LAPCS recommends using the Louisiana School Finder – an online tool developed in partnership with New Orleans Parents Guide and the Recovery School District to assist families in comparing public school data important for their child.

Key improvements at include:

  • Parents can now access the "OneApp" from any page;
  • More photos on school profile pages give parents and prospective students a better feel for the school environment;
  • School comparisons are now customizable, allowing users to prioritize the metrics they want to see from school to school;
  • School academic performance data has been expanded;
  • Improved map function makes schools easier to identify.

"We’re proud of the work we’ve done to improve," said Roemer Shirley, "and strongly encourage parents to take full advantage of the valuable information it provides as they finalize their decisions and applications for the 15th."

Applications will be accepted online until midnight on the 15th. To submit an application in person, call 1-877-343-4773 for the hours and location of the Family Resource Center nearest you.
