The Louisiana Association of Public Charter Schools (LAPCS) is the primary statewide membership association for public charter schools across the state. Our mission is to increase student achievement by supporting, promoting, and advocating for the quality charter school movement. Join us in achieving that mission today!
Programs and Services
The LAPCS is excited to offer its members many programs that will help in their endeavor to be successful:
Start Up Grant
In partnership with the Walton Family Foundation, the Louisiana Association of Public Charter Schools Association provides high-quality start-up grants to help establish charter schools serving significant low-income student populations. The Walton Family Foundation Startup Grant program supports the creation of public charters by providing grants to school developers as they launch new schools.
The Top Shelf
The success of a charter school greatly depends on its leadership. Given the scope of responsibility of charter school boards, it’s imperative that knowledgeable board members drive the school towards positive results for students, staff and the community at large. LAPCS recognizes the myriad of challenges faced by charter boards and has launched The Top Shelf Initiative to provide ongoing board development training and support in recruiting and preparing board members.
The Top Shelf has also partnered with The High Bar, which provides intensive board training and support for charter schools throughout the country. LAPCS members receive a $500 discount on the initial membership fee.
Staples, the world’s largest office products company, has partnered with LAPCS as a one-source vendor with next-day free delivery and significant savings (up to 85%) on office supplies, furniture and technology items, print and promotional products, and janitorial/break room supplies for all member charter schools.
